David is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and Japanese interpreter based in Los Angeles, known for crafting compelling stories that bridge cultures and inspire change.

Born and raised in Japan, David later attended Brooks Institute of Photography, where he honed his filmmaking skills before moving into directing new media content. His viral hits, “What Kind of Asian Are You?” and “But We’re Speaking Japanese”, have collectively garnered over 60 million views, sparking global conversations on identity and cultural connection

In 2019, David released his debut feature documentary, “Words Can’t Go There”, a deeply personal film about his father, renowned musician John Kaizan Neptune. The documentary premiered at the Warsaw International Film Festival and won Best Documentary at The Valley Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Since then, David has focused primarily on story producing, bringing human-centered narratives to life on acclaimed shows like “Street Food” Seasons 1 and 2 (Netflix), “Truth Be Told: Rick Ankiel” (Fox Sports), “Marvel’s 616” (Disney+), “Beyond The Spotlight” (Curiosity Stream), “Men In Kilts” Season 2 (Starz), “Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones” (Netflix), and “Mastermind: To Think Like a Killer” (Hulu).

Currently, David is developing several original projects spotlighting positive changemakers—individuals making a real difference in creating a more harmonious world.

In addition to his filmmaking, David is a professional English/Japanese interpreter, working with some of the entertainment industry’s most celebrated figures, including Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Greta Gerwig, Naomi Watanabe, Koji Yakusho, Hirokazu Koreeda, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, and Lady Gaga.
